"Classic Appa!"

Hey remember when I was all like, "eh, the first episode of Avatar is OKAY but I'm not sure I want to watch more of it. Maybe someday"?

ME NEITHER. Which is to say: I'm sick today so we finished Book 1! \o/

I am not really sure where to begin. Maybe at the finale - don't fuck with the ocean spirit, yo. He will BEAT YOUR ASS DOWN. I really liked the music they used there. Here's hoping we don't see the magical reappearance of Zhao. I'm glad he's gone. Of course now we get to see Zuko's sister. Aieee.

SPEAKING OF ZUKO. Well. I mean he's basically a superhero: secret identity (the Blue Spirit!), awesome powers, Daddy issues. I...I am a fan. I am also really into Katara/Zuko. Once this is all over, I will probably have to search out fic. (Get your recs ready, please. *g*)

I loved Katara being very badass and not taking crap from that waterbending master. Her fight with him made me SO HAPPY, just for the spirit of it. I was less pleased with what went on in The Fortuneteller episode (plus Aang in that episode was almost impossible for me to watch), but she is a teenage girl who spends 90% of her time being very much not a stereotypical teenage girl the rest of the time, so I can deal with it. I really hope the show doesn't end up Aang/Katara, though. They're so brother-sisterly to me. She, Aang, and Sokka are family, which is way more important.

Oh, Sokka. You are just...you're just...he's so SOKKA, you know? I LOVE HIM. So snarky! So put-upon by LIFE. OMG, telling Momo about the dream: "You said some very unkind things." Amazing. He was also cute with the princess but clearly that relationship was doomed from the start.

Appa continues to pwn all. Iroh has totally grown on me and I adore him. I am intrigued by the fact that we never see the Fire Lord's face. Ooh, speaking of faces, that face-eater was FREAKY. So was that bounty hunter lady's mount - I hope they come back, she really fascinated me and I'd love to know more about her. The show has been good about referencing previous characters/events (and is building not only the world but the character backstories and arcs nicely - I loved the episode where we got the dueling Aang/Zuko backstory!), so I will remain hopeful for now. Overall I have loved season 1 after such a slow start; although I'm pretty sure I'll never watch "The Great Divide" again. It reminded me of a bad Star Trek episode. Hee.

...I need icons.

Happy Hanukkah to those that celebrate! ♥
