A series of thoughts, unrelated

- The power of writing, the thing that attracts me to it most strongly, is when the writer manages to capture in words exactly the way I'm feeling and I know that I am not alone. I'm having this sensation, over and over, while reading The Song Is You, and it fills me up with warmth and happiness every time I read a sentence or a paragraph and I can say "yes, yes, that is it. That's exactly how it is. You get it!" So good on you, writers, for all those times you say what I can never seem to express accurately. I admire that skill tremendously.

- This post by bookshop is extremely inspirational. I'm going to never be embarrassed by myself ever again - I feel like that should become my own life motto. It's certainly what's hiding at the heart of my wanting to re-grip the reins of my journal and set it back on the path I want.

- A vid rec made without my ever having even seen the vid yet, but it's f1renze, so I KNOW it'll be good: Fighting In A Sack, a Chuck vid.

- I haven't seen last night's Supernatural yet, but judging by the number of posts on my flist about it - and the reactions outside the cut - something happened.

- It's Friday! And I made it through April Fools' Day unscathed. And we're going to the tulip fields this weekend.

- Parents, I need your help! I've been doing a lot of reading online about babyproofing the house, and some of it seems ridiculous. There are certainly things that my mom never did (like latching the toilets) and, yes, I know, "we never had to wear seat belts, either, but that doesn't mean it was all right," HOWEVER. Surely there are just some basics that we should absolutely do and the rest we can juggle as we see fit? What are the keys to babyproofing your house? So far I've got locks on cabinets with chemicals inside; gates for the top and bottom of the stairs; and plugs in the electric outlets. What are the others?
