CAN WE TALK ABOUT LAST NIGHT'S PRISON BREAK?
I really loved this episode, for no good story reasons, mostly because it gave us amazing fanservice. Thank you, PB PTB. Thank you.
I'll hit the non-Michael/Alex stuff first, for those of you not interested in that bit. :)
How adorable were Michael and Sara with the Carrot Top conversation? D'awwww! I like when Michael smiles. I also am glad that Linc and Sara got a chance to talk this week, although I wish it could've been in slightly different circumstances, as Linc coming out with Michael probably having a brain aneurysm in his future really deserves to be said somewhere than a Vegas casino. Heh. Still - I'm glad the mystery is out, and I'm very glad Sara knows, and I hope she smacks Michael around a little for not telling her.
There was a bunch of Roland abuse this week, wow. I'd be surprised if he didn't turn on them at this point. I also found him hilarious, though. I love his annoying little brother antics with Sucre. That's another relationship I'd be interested to see more of. Sucre taking Roland under his wing! That would be awesome! I'm glad Sucre got more to do in this episode, although it felt cheap and I wish it could've been more substantive, but at least we got a reference to Maricruz, so his quota was filled. *pats Sucre*
Gretchen and T-Bag. What else do I need to say? They are going to be a superpower! And did you see the way she was staring at him when she killed that guy? It's like when a cat brings you a dead bird as a present. Intense. I await the fic, fandom!
T-bag and Michael were terribly interesting. I love how closed off and intense Michael gets with T-Bag, how clear it is that he despises Bagwell and underestimates him. Michael feels really superior to T-Bag, which is so true. I did find it hilarious how T-Bag was acting like it's been years since they first met, when it's really like 6 months, tops. Their scenes together were fantastic, though, and really powerful, especially when T-Bag was threatening Trishanne and going on about how dark is Scofield now. Very neat scenes.
T-bag losing his hand while trying to break out of the room: HILARIOUS.
I really enjoyed Self in this episode, too, especially taking it directly to Pad Man on Mahone's advice. I actually kind of entirely loved that Self WENT to Mahone for advice, especially after last week's events. NOW you need him, Self? Really? Good thing for you that Michael needed him last week! (Side note: how tall is Michael Rappaport? And William Fichtner? WF seems shorter than both MR and Wentworth Miller, which is weird to me. He comes across as taller than that in my head.)
That conversation between them leads nicely into the main part of my post, though, which is the wealth of Michael and Alex stuff going on this week.
"I've tracked down rapists, killers, even former military, but a structural engineer from Illinois was able to get to me. You wanna know how?"
Um, sexing? Because I think that's the answer.
"He stopped running."
DAMMIT.
"He got aggressive, he took the game to me."
A-ha. So it was sexing!
Really, though, how much did I love the whole "structural engineer from Illinois was able to get to me" bit? I'm sure you can guess. (Hint: IT WAS A LOT.)
I also have to say it was entirely awesome that when Alex says he's staying for the T-Bag stuff, Michael stays, too. And the Look Alex gives him when he says "I'll stay," and the little exchanged nods! There was a lot of Looking going on in that scene.
Next on the agenda: STAKEOUTS. There was a stakeout, sort of! I LOVE STAKEOUTS.
aurora-84 and I were hoping we'd get one and there it was. Amazing. There should be fic about them waiting in the car together, talking and being intensely aware of each other's presence. *makes doe eyes at flist*
I love that Alex knew something was hinky when they went to meet with Bellick and Trishanne, and then he runs, knowing T-bag is probably a lousy shot. He had to be free, to break them out! Because he is just that awesome.
And we come to the absolute peak of the episode: Origami Crane. Michael gave Alex a crane. You guys, he had to know that if Alex was coming, he'd look at any piece of paper laying on the floor; no, Michael had to take the time to make it a Crane, which is like a physical sign of his devotion to someone (see: Linc and Sara). Last week we have the EPCofUA and this week we have the Origami Crane of Trust and Devotion (OCoTaD). How much do the PB PTB love us? So much! And honestly, how the hell did Alex get "deep underground corridor to rescue you" out of "GATE" on the bird book page? I'm going with telepathic link at this point. It makes the most sense, frankly.
(On a related note, this email exchange took place re: the OCoTaD -
sol-se: You just know that if Michael ever left Alex a mix tape to find in his bedroom or car or somewhere, he'd put a little crane on top.
aurora-84: And then Alex listens to his tape, and then comes to Michael's room and asks Michael to...teach him how to make cranes.
sol-se: Next he needs to leave a paper rose for Alex, right? Isn't that the next step in Michael Paper-Folding Courtship? I think I might need the paper rose fic asap, guys. If only so I can picture Mahone's confused expression.
How is this fandom so awesome? It blows me away how much fun I'm having here. GROUP HUG.)
Back to the rescue, Alex's gun slowly coming into frame behind T-Bag was hilarious and perfect. And the hitting was hot. Violence is wrong, kids!
I also love that Michael didn't even look around for Alex, just somehow knew he'd be there. Then he thanks Alex for saving him! I...I just.
*flaaaaaails*
Sartorially, I really like Alex's jeans and rescue hoodie ensemble. Michael also looked good, as did Linc and Sucre. Thumbs up, menswear department. Sara's ruffly dress was not that great, but she's always gorgeous anyway.
Randomly, because I noticed this last week and saw it again this week during the conversation with Self: Mahone wears his watch on his right wrist. Has that always been true?
I was going to talk about last week's The Office (loved it!) and Supernatural
(loooooved John and Mary's backstory; a young John who gets his innocence stripped away from him is amazing and screams for fic - well-played, Kripke), but those thoughts are pretty much all I've got.
Oh! We finished Invasion last night, too! But I'll put all that into a different post. Overall thought: really enjoyable series; loved the last couple of episodes.

How to watch videos on Hulu from anywhere. I love Hulu, actually, so I'm glad to see this for the non-Americans on my flist.
For everyone voting in the US Elections,
please read this post. I feel this is terrifying but it needs to be known. If you're voting for McCain/Palin, I especially believe you should be aware of this. Palin, in particular, is a huge concern to me. Yes, these are political shenanigans to try to rouse their core voters, and hopefully they won't be this awful in the White House if they won. I can't say I feel confident about that in the slightest, though. I'm honestly worried about Obama's safety.
I also have no idea how I'm going to last another three weeks until the elections. October 2008 might in fact be the longest month ever.

The Daily Show for solace* *also re-watches
last night's Prison Break*
(Hilariously, btw, The Colbert Report made a Prison Break reference in last night's episode.)
