I've decided that there will be no Vividcon report from me this year. First, I didn't really take any notes, so I've forgotten all of the important stuff anyway. But second, this year at Vividcon was much more social, and personal, for me, and the things I would talk about are the things that are the least interesting to anyone but me (lunch with
heresluck and
vonnie_k, which kicked the entire con off perfectly for me; watching Prison Break with
coffeeandink and
renenet; giggling late into the night with
pipsqueaky and
greensilver; all of Club Vivid).
I vow, however, to do a review of the Premieres show, and possibly the Club Vivid premieres, although there are a TON of those and I don't want to commit myself. My VVC report can now essentially be boiled down to: I got to hang out with people I love and respect, and talk about everything you could possibly imagine, and laugh every day, and watch a ton of vids. It was the Best Vividcon Ever. :)
If you're curious, though, here is the
One Stop Shopping List of Vid Show Links. Very handy to have.
On a related note, I am going to be posting about my vid DVDs in October. I really burned myself out on making them the couple of weeks before VVC, so I've needed a rest, and I have some stuff coming up that's going to take me offline for at least a week, hence the further delay. (Sekrit message to
annavtree: watch your mailbox!)
Also, I still haven't finished all the things on my fannish To Do List, so I'm not going to be running the Vid DVD Commentary challenge any time soon, either. If someone else wants to lead that charge, please do! Otherwise, don't expect me to do it until early next year, post-Yuletide/holiday challenge craziness for everyone. :)
So with the vid DVDs and the VVC Premieres review, I've got five things I must complete on my fannish To Do List now. My brain has (obviously) been in fannish ADD lately; I'm hoping that putting 'deadlines' and committing myself will help focus me. Especially for my Sweet Charity vid, which is 9 months late. *facepalms* *a lot* Thankfully, my bidder is basically a saint.
In the meantime, AHH and I started watching Invasion and have seen through episode 3.
I'm actually really enjoying the show; I was concerned I wouldn't outside of WF, but I'm intrigued by what's going on and although there are some really clunky uses of foreshadowing and 'mystery,' I'm interested in most of the characters. Kira is the exception - she's very flat and not that interesting to me, except for when she's with Dave, actually. Speaking of: Dave might be my favorite character on the show. That's kind of typically me. Heh.
I still am not really sure what's going on (and am unspoiled and want to stay that way, thanks). Obviously Tom is up to no good (though he looks hot doing it), and Russ is the smartest ranger ever (hee), and honestly I don't really trust Rose even though she's a little girl. I thought, after the first episode, that Mariel knew what had happened, but now into the third she's clearly really confused, and that's mostly confused me. Especially since the priest seems to know what's happening to him? I don't know, it's all very murky right now.
I liked the third episode the best so far because we got quite a lot of information, and I love seeing the blended family interaction. So, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the series!
The Emmys are on tonight. I really am not watching this year; I'm angry and disgusted with the Emmys and I've had it with them. I'm tempted to watch a couple episodes of The Wire in protest. *g*
