Alas. But I am, once again, in need. Does anyone have screencaps from the first episode of Dante's Cove? *hopeful* (I'm only looking for people who might already have done the work of capping; I can figure out a way to get them from the avi if I need to, but if someone has the DVD and has done it, that would be better. Thanks!)
Today is the Chargers/Patriots game. Fortunately I have plans set up for after the game that will hopefully distract me if things don't go as I really hope. Even if the Chargers win and go to the Super Bowl (which, according to everyone on the planet they have a -9384593485% chance of doing) this game is my Super Bowl. I HAVE FAITH. YOU CAN DO IT, CHARGERS! GO TEAM.
In other news, I realized yesterday that "The Tide Is High" is pretty much Frannie's internal theme song, re: Fraser.
AHH and I did finally get to 5x03 of The Wire. A few thoughts, in list form today.
- I'm pretty much with Bunk on the question of McNulty and his fucked up plan. I cracked up when Lester was all for it, which I found initially surprising but after some consideration, it fits for Lester. Watching McNulty go through and fake evidence is incredibly tense; I keep expecting him to get caught and yet I don't know what will/would happen if he did. The ethics of what he's doing are all off, of course, but I can also see why he's doing it, of course. I just...I don't agree with it.
- OOOOMMMMMAAAARRRRRR! I was very happy to see him happy, except now he's going to get pulled back to Baltimore and I really do NOT want that because I just don't feel good about his chances if he does. I know he will, because Omar repays debts (especially tragic debts like the torture and death of his friend, which was awful awful awful to watch. I think it was personally made worse for me because he was blind; he couldn't know what was coming - gah). If they kill Omar's grandma, though. Man. That's SERIOUSLY just SO WRONG. Not that killing his friend wasn't but. That's Omar's GRANDMA.
- Michael wanting to be a "normal" kid at Six Flags was adorable and heartbreaking. I hate seeing him at the corner, being a tough guy, learning how to kill from Snoop of all people. The absence of opportunity is so difficult to see, again, because you know there are kids like that all over the country. Bright kids who just need a chance, who need an environment that doesn't tell them that their only hope is in drug-running.
- I think Daniels is right to be nervous about being Commissioner. I can't imagine every actually wanting that job. God. So much stress, and for what? Ass-kissing the mayor? Woo.
- Carcetti, however, and his desire for the actual crime numbers, showed me there is still a glimmer of humanity there. Politics hasn't beaten it all out of him yet. Seeing the brief Carcetti scenes, though, I have to agree with a review I saw of season 5, which is that the only complaint is that there simply isn't enough time to spend with all of the characters we've grown to care so much about. Too many awesome characters in one show! A "problem" I'm happy to have.
- The cutbacks at the newspaper are annoying, too, of course. I still love Gus lots and lots, and I love the fired guy one-upping the new kid. The lying new kid who I hope gets what's coming for him karmically. Though this is The Wire, so we'll see. Heh.
I still love going to my profile to hit the 'Post Entry' button and seeing my v-gifts there. They always make me so cheerful. :) Thanks again!
