So it appears that yesterday's tech issues were due to the source, thankfully. Whew!
Today's vidlet was suggested by
asta77, it's a Horatio Hornblower vid to Bobby Darin's "More."

My first observation, Merc either doesn't like Horatio and Archie or Booby Darin. ;)
I adore the quick cuts you did with "My life will be in your keeping, waking sleeping, laughing, weeping." I envisioned the shot of Horatio carrying Archie with "in your keeping" and was hoping you would use it. :)
I really like the spotlight effect, I think it works well with the feeling that you are watching a theatrical production - their stroy played out - plus it tied in nicely, for me, with Bobby Darin's reputation as such a great showman on stage.
Not sure about the color changes. I don't dislike it and it makes for an interesting transition as the camera shifts to Archie, but I suppose if it wasn't there I wouldn't miss it.
Love the fireworks.
I think my favorite bit may be the clip of Bush walking in on them during their candlelight dinner discussing Sawyer and what to do about him. They just look so adorably guilty over being caught in the act. ;)

I think overall if I were doing it again I would take out the color changes.

Don't they?? I thought their looks were perfect.

I love how Archie's eyes shift on "my life"--perfect timing. And you somehow managed to make Archie's fits funny, which seems vaguely wrong, but I giggled anyway. I'm kind of ambivalent about the color changes, but the cuts on "long, long, long" time are awesome. As are the fireworks--heeeeee. And pretty much everything from :54 on is fantastic (Non-Hug of Total Joy!).
Anyway, yes. Not profound, but profoundly giggle-inducing.
Who goes in to get neutered in two weeks.Eeek! Poor kitty. Merc gets to avoid that for another six months, at least ( ... )

To be honest, that's the part that always makes me laugh the most. His face there just kills me.

Oh I'm glad. Those also make me laugh, I'm glad someone else likes them, too. I included the Non-Hug of Total Joy just for you! Since I couldnt work it into "Lullaby."
I expect us to eventually move and the house will suddenly be covered in puffballs. Poor Merc, he lost his moose! Aw.

The vid is such a hoot. And now I have the song stuck in my head, too :)
The boat drawing really does set the mood for the vid. And then you hear Bobby Darin and it's a great ride from then on. I really enjoyed the cuts during "My life will be in your keeping, waking sleeping, laughing, weeping," but my favorite is the sequence during "no one else could love you more," because I'm a sucker for Pellew and Bush and the other guys, and it's especially poignant considering how they tend to get in the way of Archie/Horatio.
I liked the name tags and the fireworks. I'm ambivalent about the flashing light thingie. On the one hand, it keeps with the mood of the vid and doesn't let Horatio get too serious. On the other hand, I tend to associate colored lights with disco and not the Bobby Darin era. Argh, it doesn't really matter. The boys are cute and pretty anyway.

In case you missed it, SDW also has an awesome Archie/Horatio vid here, which she very obligingly made for me. If you're a fan, I'd highly recommend it.
Also, hi! *squishes you*

Thanks for the vid rec. I'll definitely check it out.
I only recently got hooked on HH. Sometime late summer, I think. It's funny how some people got into BSG because of Jamie and I got into HH because of BSG. Actually my first foray into HH was kinda messed up. Due to a library screw up I started with Mutiny/Retribution and only then watched the episodes in proper order starting with the Duel. At least now I have the whole box set to watch whenever and in whatever order I please.

I agree, the flashing light section was more disco than Bobby Darin. :) Thanks again for the comments!
