To be fair, if you're not "filling" with someone who has it, you're not going to contract it. In that way it's just the same as a cold, really. Even if you do, though, there are other ways around it anyway.

That's a good question, actually. I don't think the original source is often common knowledge. Sometimes it's said a disease, both sexually transmitted and not, came from contact with some animal carrying the disease. How true that is can be debatable.
