[Admin] An Important Announcement....
Just in case some of you aren't on the yahoo groups associated with this community and missed this:
When I first started fanworkrecs in 2001, I was fortunate enough to work someplace that didn't care what I did online, so long as I got my work done. There wasn't much to do there, which meant I spent most of my days and a good chunk of my nights working on the site. In 2004 I moved out of state, and not only did my ability to happily code my days away disappear with the move, so did my high speed internet access. I found that it was really, really difficult to maintain a site this large on modem that got, at best, a 28.8 connection.
I wish that it weren't so, but it's time to finally give in. The site's eating money that I desperately need and even if I could start updating again, I'm long out of fandom of any kind. I also couldn't code my way out of a paper bag if my life depended on it anymore. The site will be shut down as of 1/22/12.
I want to sincerely say thank you to everyone who's visited the site over the last decade, to all the authors and artists that let me rec and host them, and to all the friends I made. I miss you all, I appreciate your friendship over the years and I wish you all happiness and success. Maybe one of these days I'll finally win the lottery and I'll see you all again.
