Oh cool! You read Childhood's End too. What did you think of it? Also, I was never able to get into Dune. It feels so huge X_X.

I liked it, although it has this sort of...episode of The Outer Limits sort of feel that made me wonder when exactly he wrote it. Overall, I think you're right, it's the sort of thing that would make a great movie if someone did it right.

Dune is a really really awesome book, and although you'll want -more- if you finish it, the sequels aren't nearly as solid. Dune Messiah and Children of Dune are ok, but inferior to the original. The 4th book, God Emperor of Dune has these really, REALLY interesting ideas, and is probably the best of the sequels. The 5th and 6th books are really slow and esoteric and weird, with good points, but since the 6th ends with unanswered questions and then the author died, I'd recommend avoiding them.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS THE NEW PREQUELS AND SEQUELS WRITTEN BY HIS SON AND ANOTHER GUY. THEY ARE AWFUL >_

Got it (on Dune) ^^V.

Yeah, it was a nifty book. It's kinda trippy...a little dated but you can see where lots of people hence have been inspired by it.

Hehe, sorry, I guess it turns out Dune can make me rant a bit. XD

Anyhow, they are quite trippy, one of several reasons I've never felt the need to try drugs for the "experience". Who needs psychotropics when you could just read Dune? :P
