Time Management

As the summer session draws to an end and I study for my final, crank out formal lab reports and finish lab notebook entries for submission, I have become increasingly antsy for it to be over.  I will be rid of school for at least 5 months, and I am elated. Unfortunately, it's not time to be elated. It's time to study, crank out reports, and finish entries. To make the most of my daydreaming and make sure 'wasted time' becomes 'time used productively but incorrectly,' I've tried to journal ideas (privately), discuss them with Todd as soon as I have a chance, send out emails at appropriate emailing times, and make tones of lists and a few to-do items on Time/Yagoon Calendar.

I've wasted a couple hours today, but have been productive for the most part.

I meant to get up at 6, but I had a dream that would have left me in a funk had I arisen to my alarm. Going back to sleep may have been a bad choice, since I proceeded to have an extremely frightening nightmare about demons and vampires (I blame Todd indirectly, but I'm not angry). At 7:15, I decided that I had to get up, even if a change of pace was necessary to get things rolling.

I ended up having a wonderful time reading on the balcony. I got in some devotional time, read some Jordan, and read a large portion of the current organic chemistry chapter (22) before it became too warm to enjoy the weather. I ran the dishwasher while I was outside, so I was not distracted by the monstrous sounds that seem to creep into every part of the townhouse and I was greeted by clean dishes upon my return to the indoors. Today, I learned that the proper way to get myself into the studious reading mindframe is to read fiction for a half hour to an hour. That gets me focused. That would have been helpful to know seven years ago, but at least I know it now.

I paused for productivity in taking care of a few financial matters, doing a little cleaning, and running some errands. Unfortunately, I turned on the tv at the end of the productivity streak. Thus the wasted time. Oh well. I answered a couple emails and planned out some JoAnn Fabric spending (I have a coupon and browsed their online flyers), so all is not lost.

K. Gotta put a couple to-do items on the calendar, call Chief, and get back to reading. I have to get a bunch of reading done while it's still quite bright outside, or it won't get done. I can always work on reports at night.
