As of 9;05 this morning, I officially slipped out of survival mode, and into recovery mode!
I ordered 2 things I had to have; a 3.5" external HD enclosure "NexStar 3" so I can put Saraswasti - my other external HD into the closet where it belongs. I will soon have a dedicated backup drive. And a new 200g HD for said drive above.
These wasn't "necessary things" these was luxury items.
For the past two years, I've been in survival mode, thanks to this depression that the corporations brought us into. Any luxury had to be skimped and saved for, and then I had to go for as cheap as possible. Not today, I bought quality. Why now? Because I had an excess of money and important, necessary things was bought and paid for. I though. "It's time to start your recovery and get things you've needed for two years."
So I did! :)
I have a master '2 buy' list now. Nearly 3,000 worth of stuff but it'll be bought over a year. IF nothing else goes wrong.
I'm cautiously optimistic now.
Hell, I might even buy a 20g aquarium next year for my natural aquarium :).
[looks nervous now...]
This year also. I've already budgeted $50 for a particular set of friends for Christmas. This year I will NOT forget.
In other news. I started work on the company's web site. We got a request from an owner asking if we had a site. That was the wake-up call to me. I told them yes, but the site was down and I was rebuilding it from scratch. So about a week ago I started working on it, running though outlines with the office. We've finally finalized the layout and such. So today, I set up the basic 3 column liquid layout I used with my own site. Then on a whim, I tried a javascript rounded corner based technique, and it worked. No complaints. No odd screw ups, just worked. It's also pretty easy to do. I'm not fully happy with the amount of code needed to do each and every DIV, but it works nevertheless.
I think now, that the major reason why my site wouldn't work, was it had all that legacy code in it. It needed a complete wipe and reinstall which I did, and now my site is ready to go up, as soon as I fix the domain name problem.
After I get the companies site up, and running, I'll put in the rounded DIVs on my own site. It'll look fantastic.
Special people will get the URLs - you know who you are :)
So anyway, things ARE FINALLY WORKING OUT!
