For many, many years. Probably nearly my entire life, I've had 3 recurring elements in my dreams.
#1 was a cat that kept reappearing. It took me a long time to really understand this cat. But the last time I had him appear is when I reliezed this was the same cat that kept re-appearing in my dreams. I also knew that this cat appeared a few months ago, or 2 years ago or such. I'm struggling to convey the exact thoughts, since I can almost see 'em, but it's like the entire dreams from the first to the last of a few months ago (dozens of years) are like one long sequence, and I knew it. I knew that the cat was far too old to be the same one, but yet he kept reappearing. The worse thing is; I thought this was a memory, that this cat was real at one time. It took till I reliezed what cat this really was, for me to know this was a dream memory.
#2 I use to hike around the hills around my home when I was younger, and there was a couple of hills that 'defeated' me. Which means they was just too steep, and long to make it. I of course finally defeated them, before I had to move away, but there was one spot with this odd outcropping of rock that I could always see but never make it.
Well I finally, finally figured that that memory was no more than a dream memory, and that outcropping of rock and hill never existed. You know once I figured that out, I started having dreams in which the road company finally made a road up to it, and I drove up to it? Weird :)
#3 And lastly a dream I had last night. I use to have 3 parts to this dream. #1 I think either a family memory had this really, old, and huge house. It was stacked several stories high like an apartment building. The 2nd part is that inside it was cluttered and stuffed with junk of all sorts. Also the curtains was always closed, and thick, so it had a gloomy and dark appearance. I never knew much about the place, just all I mentioned. #3 is where I went into it, and kept finding rooms, as I explored.
Well today I had a dream in which I was back inside this home again, and this time I open the curtains, and started moving stuff around. I think my mother was there, although I didn't see her, and told her that I'm going to start cleaning this place up. We're going to keep the papers and things dealing with the family, some we'll sell, the others trash.
Just before the dream ended, I had found papers which I put in one pile, and was moving some odd glass things asking her if we wanted to keep or sell.
Now if what I read about dream symbolism is correct (and of course you have to take everything with a grain of salt)
"To see a dark, eerie or confining room, denotes that that you feel trapped or repressed in a situation."
"To dream that you are cleaning your house, signifies your need to clear out your thoughts and getting rid of old ways. You are seeking self-improvement.
To see an old, run-down house in your dream, represents your old beliefs, attitudes and how you used to think or feel. A situation in your current life may be bringing about those same old attitudes and feelings. Alternatively, the old house may symbolize your need to update you mode of thinking.
Dream Moods "Carl Jung talked about recurring dreams he had in which he would discover parts of his house that he didn't know existed. In that dream the house represented his personality and the new things he discovered in the house related to new developments in his work."
Dreams & NightmaresIf I take what happened with me that day before I can see some possibilities.
Alternatively, the old house may symbolize your need to update you mode of thinking."
That's probably my clue. When I went walking today for health, I spent 5 minutes and just watched the birds flying around me. Just enjoying the sight. I was also listening to Bachs' 'Air' as well, with a feeling of DaVinci doing the same in his boyhood. Also I'd purchased a book from 1/2 Price Books in Lexington a day before, "
Drawing Lessons from the Great Masters" There may be a link to that. Maybe my subconscious is telling me it's time to really crack down and move ahead with my art, and my licenses.
I only wish my subconscious could keep the momentum going to archive this, I at times crash :\
Anyway...since this is my day off, it's time to watch 2 more Torchwoods! :)
