Day 18 - Fish Lake, UT (not in tent, though)

Happy Bastille Day!!

Today was a pretty good day. This morning started out very cold (for me, I don't know why). Everyone said it was warmer than usual, but I was really cold. Anyway, a team of us hurried to set up for another boat day. Clouds greeted us this morning, which bode poorly for the rest of the day. Dave and Scott spent a lot of time cracking jokes about my sleepiness on the boat this morning - but damn, the rocking, soft ground and gentle drone of the 40 HP is so damn nice. Anyway, we all braved the morning, but by 11:45 it became evident that it was going to rain on us out on the water. I tsoon did. We caught some wicked downdrafts coming down from the plateau. We were practically the only boat out on the lake - the psycho-6 turning donuts for our survey on the white-capped water. I'm sure som epeople had quizzical looks backk on shore. Anyway, we docked ~1pm and went back to camp briefly (I got mky flashy fluorescent yellow rain pant - those got a lot of looks :-p). We waited out the drab weather in Bowery, eating sugary desserts and then talking to Verl at the boat dock. Then from 3 to 7 we were back on the water. Sun greeted us. I twas much better than the reain pelting our faces at 10 knots.

Good news: Tent did NOT get wet! I survived the rain! Yay! I'm now outside waiting for Scott to get back rom the cabin so I can get stuff out of the van. It seems that tomorrow Chuck is taking all of us out to Loa to go see a movie! I'm psyched because I haven't gone to a theater in like 3 months.

G'night,
-S
