In preparation for my upcoming move to self-catering accommodation, I made my very first omelette today. It went very well. Although my mum was amused, frustrated and quite possibly alarmed by the amount of time I put into reading and committing to memory Delia's surprisingly long how-to-do-omelettes-perfectly instructions before attempting it, I proved her wrong by producing a cheese omelette of superior quality. In fact, she was so surprised when she saw it that I felt a bit miffed. Still, I think today proved that my (9-years-old and never-before-touched) 'Delia's How To Cook' books and I will get along wonderfully. And I definitely wont starve at university, which is a plus.
Actually, I'm starting to think I could get into cooking, which is something I never thought I'd say. It appeals to my inner obsessive perfectionist. It's also like doing lab experiments that you get to eat at the end! i.e. double fun :)
I'm going to attempt to match the success of today with a first attempt at steaks tomorrow. Yum.
