Cosplay help needed.
So... This year I am attempting to actually have a costume that isn't fuzzy.
shortyneisius and I will be Alicia and Akari from Aria the Animation.
I'll be the pink haired one, she'll be the blond one.
If she has time, I'll be commisioning a friend to make me an Aria plushe. Aria is the cat-ish creature in Alicia's arms.
So far I have a dress pattern but still haven't found a decent shirt pattern in my size. It turns out I don't understand sewing pattern sizes and the dress patterns were too small, but we over compensated and actually made it too big. Better than too small.
We were able to get something that resembles a dress out in a night worth of work. By "we", I mean mostly my sister. I cut a little bit and ironed most of the seams... but my sister is the one that actually sews.
I'm thinking the blue pattern will be painted on with fabric paint.. but still deciding on that.
shortyneisius has purchased her costume I expect her decorations will be sewn, but that seems harder.
I have also just placed my order for a pink wig. As well as a wig head, and wig cap.
But I need advice from my cosplay buddies!
Any advice on how I should butcher my wig, since only Akari's "sideburns" are long. The rest of her hair is pretty short.
I'm wondering if I should cut my hair so it hides under the wig better.
I also need absolutely any advice you might have on shoe covers
I also need to work on an oar I'm thinking of making it out of a thin PVC pipe and foam.. but plans can certainly change. Not sure if it's been formally announced anywhere but wooden paddles are banned at AX this year so I'll have to look into cardboard or foam or something.
