Interesting idea, the newly-empowered Slayers having to go through a kind of test of their own. Shel's references seemed a little too new, though--she was empowered in "Chosen," which aired in 2003, and I'm pretty sure Youtube debuted after that, so she wouldn't have known what that was. That may be the only one, or there may be more, I don't know, but it jumped out at me.

On and off, we've discussed how Buffy and the others would go about recruiting new slayers. This story suggested they'd set the sitch up where the new slayer might decide how far she wanted to go down the beckoning path.

Wonder if they'd used different tests for different individuals?

Is the last test, where Shel has to slay her 'relatives,' a test of her willingness to sacrifice?

Good story...couple of missing words here and there. I enjoyed the story quite a bit and thought the challenges were interesting. A beta might have made it a stronger entry.
