7 years.
That's how long I will have had this journal for. 7 years of rambling on about everything and nothing all in the same time. It's kinda scary (creepy?) to think that if I dropped dead right now, somebody could read about my entire life in Japan (all 5 years of it) right here.
Though I find that friends are posting less and less these days. Same here...not much to say and not much time to say it in. Still though, it's good to get things down in here from time to time. Capture what is going on around me and how I felt about it. Then read it later and laugh or wonder what the hell I was thinking (and there is no better proof then reading the early Japan years s***...what the %$#"%#$ was I thinking??)
As usual, there are 1,001 things going on around / with me. And as usual, 1,000 are usually something I am not happy about.
My trips to Canada were so much fun! Those will be a separate post soon, but needless to say much fun was had.
Much fun was also had at GenCon this year where I practiced being the Chairman of China (their President) for 8 hours. It was a blast and I even picked up some crisis management skills that I got to use in the classroom!
Oh yea, teaching. I'm a s****y teacher it turns out. This semester I am teaching English writing and grammar. The writing class is going along well. Actually I hope it would be as that was what I spent all that money on at UIUC. It's the grammar class that is killing me. English is hard. Much harder then you can even imagine. Imagine having a bunch of rules that almost ALL have exceptions to and where the exceptions have exceptions to them. Yup...it's that much fun. They also neglected to tell me that grammar classes are only 2 credit hours and therefor I am making less money then last semester for doing twice the amount of work. But that's okay. I have a lot of hours in the tutoring center where I get to sit and plan for the classes and say things like, "no you have to be here in order for me to check it. This isn't a drive through paper checker window".
