On linux: dwm (need to find out how to utilize dmenu)
On win32: utorrent, puTTy, foobar2000, gtalk/psi, avg, 7zip, winscp, o&o defrag
Remote usage: irssi
Platform independant/diverse: Mozilla Firefox(+google browser sync+all-in-one sidebar+del.icio.us+tab mix plus), (g)vim, lighttpd, ruby(+gems), mplayer/vlc, gimp
Frankly, I like consistant and flexible programs. My only gripe is firefox over opera, but with the orientation of many opensource and web app groups twards firefox, it's become a hindrance not to use it. I still haven't found a linx music player that doesn't drive me batty, and am sad gtalk doesn't do linux. utorrent should have a linux port too, alas.
I spend a lot of time in consoles with the exception of graphical browsing, or image editing, or watching tv/movies. Here's to not needing to start X to do any of those!
