Some thoughts and not necessarily in any particular order:
BUMMED...I'm effin' bummed because I only get another month of my Friday afternoon treat of a Bailey's mocha at this, my customary coffee shoppe at which I check my e-mail, my LJ, and tappety-tap away at the keyboard in search of a good writing groove and the bit of literary genius that must one day spring forth like Athena from the forehead of Zeus. (Okay, more like turds of bronze out of my poopershoot, but a guy can always dream, can't he?) So yes, my good buds, Sunny and Brian, are giving up the ghost in a month and the cozy spot I've got here just won't be worth going to anymore, even if somebody does end up pulling coffee here afterword.
If I'm lucky, I'l get to purchase a keen reading chair that I love. It's got a little wear on it, but it's perfectly comfortable and would look appropriate in the study.
Crown was a mixed bag for me. The heat took out a lot of the joy for me, partly because some of my friends, in particular my wife, just weren't having a good time of it. The only thing that made the weekend worthwhile was the company I got to keep, witnessing cool people get cool recognitions, seeing Sven and Signy out of another reign, and getting to serve my new king and queen.
The members of Miranda's guard that were there were fantastic and were really with me on the whole thing. Great guys! They made my job easy as their captain.
I would have loved to have become the next champion, but others brought forth greater skill; I'm happy for them at least.
I am incredibly pumped about the next Crown Tournament in that Their New Majesties have this awesome idea in mind for fighters to kick it up on their persona developement! Fighters have to be persona appropriate in their weapon styles (requiring documentation if there's a question). They have to present themselves the night before the tournament for Their Majesties' approval, including talking about their persona's background (no processional the next day!). And no plastic showing except for cup hilts.
I've got to get my shit together, get cracking on my bronze scale, and upgrade my gear.
This marketing company called The Curiosity Group sent out an ad to Craigslist for a writing job and they sounded like they were actually worth working for. Normally I don't like the idea of a job that involves the selling of things (I know: highly unrealistic), but the language of the ad just popped out at me. So I gave it a shot and sent them a cover letter and resume. They haven't gotten back to me yet, so I'll send them a follow-up letter. Maybe I'll get lucky.
In the meantime I've been taking a screenwriting class down at the film center for the summer term and have had a pretty good time of it so far. My teacher, Roger Margolis, has got a lot of experience behind him, but the man looks and sounds pretty wacky (approaching insanity). I'm good with that.
In the meantime, I must tap-tappety-tap away, scribble chicken scratches on my yellow legal pad (and other assorted bits of paper), and work.
That's about it, I guess.
