So I couldn't wait to get off work today and start my pre-weekend decompression. First stop: Wherehouse Music. I got psychedelic furs, Linda Ronstadt, and The Addams Family. Why the furs? 'Cause I didn't have them yet. Why Ronstadt? 'Cause I love her voice and I had it bad for her when I was a kid. But I'm reconsidering the purchase because Aaron Neville seems to be on practically every track. Why the Addams? 'Cause after all these years of me and Hunnic Scourge quoting from it we STILL didn't own the damn thing.
OH SHIT!
Brian, the owner of this fine establishment I frequent who usually has excellent choice in music, is playing a pathetic cover of The Travelling Wilburys' song Handle Me With Care.
You know the one, where during every chorus the guys sing together in a way that would usually sound unharmonious given how each of them (Jeff lynne, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and Harrison) sing. Well this cover, and I have no idea who is doing it, attempts the same chorus and sounds like total shit.
Hence my reaction.
So I'm looking forward to my trip to Seattle for the coveted Police concert. I'm taking the train tomorrow morning. I'll be taking my laptop and a book or two for the trip. Maybe I'll get something writ to my satisfaction. Maybe I'll read something I've been meaning to get around to.
It'll be awesome to spend some time with Petitsyrah and freewaydiva. I'm jonesin even as I type away to the sounds of...WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? Some chick singing and plunking away at a stick? Brian needs to change cds! This is shit!
So I'm also in the first week of the South Beach diet with Hunnic Scourge. Sigh. I've done it before and I hate the first week or two because of the total lack of carbs. I actually had to strip a corndog of it's delicious coating Monday because the cafeteria at my work didn't have anything better to offer. Of course, this means that any trip to the SMASH-FISH place in Seattle will be shorn of joy because I won't be able to touch any of the yummy red potatoes and corn that go along with the seafood. So sad.
