Nobody's online and I have nothing to do, so I'm going to fill out the 2011 meme someone posted.
1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?
I can't recall anything really new...I rode a Ferris wheel and I think it was the first time. I was terrified.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolution(s)?
I don't remember what they were.
3. Will you make more for next year?
I do want to be healthier, dress nicer, socialize better, make more effort in everything in general. At 28 I feel like my life still hasn't ever started yet and is already "winding down."
4. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope!
5. Did anyone close to you die?
No, fortunately.
6. What countries did you visit?
I've never had an opportunity to visit another country.
7. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
A dependable car, I guess.
8. What date(s) from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I can't remember a specific date of significance.
9. What was your biggest achievement of 2011?
...I made some drawings I was happy with? I updated my website more? I didn't manage to complete any major projects or make any improvements to my life.
10. What was your biggest failure?
I guess wasting money on a bad car, and like most years, squandering huge portions of time.
11. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got sick only three times I think, which is a record for me! I used to get sick almost monthly.
12. What was the best thing you bought?
Maybe some birthday and Christmas presents for people. I can't remember any of the things I bought for just myself.
13. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Bethany made the most (if not the only?) effort to make my Birthday meaningful.
14. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Almost everyone did something or other to lower my expectations of them, but nothing appalling.
15. Where did most of your money go?
Problems with the electric bill, water heater, my trip to Maryland and a car I no longer have. I spent thousands of dollars on it all, consisting entirely of student loan money :/
16. What did you get really excited about?
Going back to Maryland like I do every year, which I made the most of this time with lots of trips to special places with people I'd missed, and tons of good food you can't get in Florida.
17. What song will always remind you of 2011?
I'm not sure what music is new to me this year...I did get into Dr. Who in the last couple months and I
really love one of its main action themes, it's in my head all the time now. Everything from 2:30 onward is especially inspirational, it feels really emotional when that part plays over pivotal moments in the show.
18. Compared to this time last year, are you:
- Happier or sadder? Maybe neither, leaning towards a little sadder.
- Thinner or fatter? The same despite my best efforts : /
- Richer or poorer? I'm going to say poorer, since my income hasn't worsened but I am minus a car.
19. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Drawing, exercising, meeting new people, going places.
20. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Put what I want last when I ever even express it to others at all.
And I ate too much fast food.
21. How did you spend Christmas?
With Bethany's family, who always have a traditional happy christmas morning like a "real" family. My mother usually just hands me a little bag of dollar store knick knacks and sends me off : p
22. Did you fall in love in 2011?
I last fell in love five or six years ago. Things have changed now, we're still best friends, but I think I learned in the past year that I don't have (or understand) powerful, intense, deep romantic emotion. I crave affection, sex and love every minute of every day, but on a level that I think is simpler than a normal person, and I feel happy the way I am...just not happy that I don't have so much more to give. It doesn't just go for relationships, but friendships too. I think I see friends as just these entertaining things to visit with sometimes, and don't have it in me to take them much more seriously or expect anything amazing from them.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
Dexter, Nip/Tuck, Dr. Who, Adventure Time, the new Beavis and Butthead, several other series new and old that I got into.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Josh, who would only be known to one person who might read this. He always made me feel a little awkward and on edge to begin with, but then he seriously mooched off us for months and was completely unappreciative, selfish and useless.
25. What was the best book you read?
I just realized I've read nothing new this year that I can recall. I grew up so deeply into so many books...I don't know what's happened. The internet, I guess.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I'm bad at discovering music. I'm musically illiterate.
27. What did you want and get?
Cockroaches.
28. What did you want and not get?
A reliable vehicle.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
I'm not sure I saw a single thing that actually came out this year.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I had a special dinner and cake made by Bethany and Nick while Dylan, Jesse and Kristy came to see me. Just a simple, happy few hours with the only friends I have here.
I'm 28 now, which horrifies me. I'm still of the mindset I had when I was five that 28 is supposed to be someone's old dad.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting my big art project finished. It's getting there, though. I'm almost positive it will be done by this summer.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
None. I've never had a fashion concept. I wear whatever's comfortable, which is always plain, and hidden under my vest. I really want to dress nicer...I want to look more attractive and mature, just for myself.
33. What kept you sane?
Taking college classes, even though my goals are foggy and there were a lot of complications.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I've never really felt much of anything towards anyone famous.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Politics, period. I think I hate everything about them.
36. Who did you miss?
I luckily haven't really lost anyone new.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
I didn't really meet anyone this year that I hadn't met at least once before. Something tells me that isn't really normal for an entire year.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.
Nobody who deals in cars is out to rip you off, even if they've been your parent's best friends and next door neighbors for years.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Nothing comes to mind!
