Below is my ranking of the Season One episodes of "THE ALIENIST", the 2018 adaptation of Caleb Carr's 1994 novel. Created by Jakob Verbruggen and Cary Fukunaga, the television series starred Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning:

FAVORITE EPISODES OF "THE ALIENIST" SEASON ONE (2018)

1. (1.08) "Psychopathia Sexualis" - Alienist (psychiatrist) Laszlo Kreizler and newspaper illustrator John Moore travel to Washington D.C. to investigate a suspect in the murders of boy prostitutes. Sara Howard, secretary to N.Y.P.D. Commissioner Theodore Roosevelt, travels to New England for the same purpose. Meanwhile, retired N.Y.P.D. Police Chief Thomas Byrnes and Police Captain Connor tighten their stranglehold on the investigation.

2. (1.10) "Castle in the Sky" - In this season finale, Kreizler confronts the demons of his past. Later, the team closes in on the killer, while Conner takes matters into his own hands.

3. (1.02) "A Fruitful Partnership" - Kreizler searches for other victims of the serial killer. He also treats Sara, Moore, and N.Y.P.D. detectives Marcus and Lucius Isaacson to Delmonico's and informs them they will be teaming up to catch the killer.

4. (1.06) "Ascension" - Moore checks on the safety of a young prostitute named Joseph. Sara investigates Kreizler's past. And the team set a trap to catch the killer.

5. (1.04) "These Bloody Thoughts" - Sara and Kreizler discuss the ability to kill. Moore goes on a date. Byrnes and Connor eye potential suspects for the serial killings. And Roosevelt is under scrutiny from the public.
