I had a pretty good record buying weekend. An Amoeba hit on Friday, an eBay win, and an Amazon UK order. Will be documented later.

Other than that, it was a pretty lazy weekend.
The Chinese Take Outs are now on our semi-permanent rehearsal schedule of 4 hours every Saturday. We have three new songs now to add to the arsenal, bringing said arsenal up to 16 songs.
Two of the new songs are pretty slow. Well, slow compared to our other songs. Which means the new songs are actually mid-tempo. No real titles yet. But I've affectionately titled them as such --
Benatar, due to one of the riffs sounding like a Pat Benatar song. (Heartbreaker, I think.) Eligh plays some really cool 60s garage bass lines on this one, which really surprised me since he admitted that he never knows what to play on slow songs. Either way, we are all pretty impressed with what he came up with.
The second song sounded like the New York Dolls' Looking for a Kiss when Joe first showed it to me, so I've decided to call it Looking for a Fist.
The third one is currently untitled but I'm thinking of calling it MBV v. QCTO. It's a pretty fast song but I decided to mess with the dynamics a bit and I'm playing relatively soft during the "verses" and then just start playing loud during the "choruses". The other cool thing about the song is that it has a weird arrangement where there really aren't "verses" and "choruses" (hence all the quotes). I can't wait to try out this song live.

I went to LAX on Sunday night to see my mom off for her trip to the Philippines. Apparently, she's going there for a school reunion. I'm not sure if it's her high school or college reunion. In another one of my mom's WTF? moments, she asked me, "Are you being a good boy?" Cynically, I answered, Why would you think otherwise? And just to remind her that she has a gay son (side note: even though I came out to her six months ago, nothing further has been said about it, which may or may not be a good thing), I added, I can't be bad because Brent keeps me in check. He won't let me do bad things.

I was able to catch a few movies on cable as well. I saw most of The Exorcism of Emily Rose. To my surprise, it was a pretty good movie. A nice courtroom drama horror film. I also saw Trick on Logo. That was a nice little gay-themed romantic comedy.
