STUFT

So I've been waiting for a package from Amazon in the UK. It was shipped out around Halloween and I still haven't received it. I stopped by the post office to check the PO box and found that a package from a different record shop showed up. This particular package was sent on November 11, 2005. What the fuck?!? I'm going to be pissed if my Amazon package got lost.

In any case, I haven't been to the shops in a while (apart from Sunday before the B4MV show). But somehow, like always, I managed to compile a stack of stuff.

Funeral for a Friend History 2 x Blue Vinyl 7" Single and CD Single
Multiformatted for your convenience. Each with a different b-side. Each with a different version of the a-side. A nice little ballady/anthem type song from FFAF. I actually do like the remixed version because they added strings to the song. Nice touch. One of the b-sides features an acoustic version of "The Art of American Football," which is one of FFAF's fastest and hardest songs. Nice contrast. As a bonus, the seven inches are on light blue and dark blue vinyl.

The Darkness One Way Ticket 7" Single Picture Disc and CD Single
I still like The Darkness but they're definitely at 8 minutes of their 15 minutes of fame. This lead off single to the "difficult sophomore album" is pretty good. A little "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" retread but still catchy. The album was produced by Roy Thomas Baker (who produced Queen) so I'm wondering how many Queen rip offs will be on the album. One of the b-sides, Grief Hammer, had an obvious Queen-esque vocal line so I would imagine that the album would be full of them.

Kaiser Chiefs Modern Way 2 x CD Single and 7" Single
Kaiser Chiefs I Predict A Riot/Sink That Ship Double A-side Gatefold 7" Single
The umpteenth single release from Enjoyment. Can we say flogging a dead horse? (Well, at least it's not as bad as The Killers are re-releasing Hot Fuss, for the umpteenth time.) This single is a little disappointing because the b-sides are obvious throwaways. They must be saving the good stuff for the next album.

I also chose to buy the 7" single for the Kaisers previous single, I Predict A Riot/Sink That Ship. I had to keep my Kaisers 7" single collection complete and it was the only one I was missing.

Bloc Party Two More Years Green Vinyl 7" Single
My Bloc Party purchase of the week. This single is still on regular "rotation" on my iPod. It's a good song. I'm definitely looking forward to their next album. The b-side, Hero, is also good. Matt Tong's drumming just gets more and more interesting.

Jetpak Neck Mohican e.p. 7" Single
I already had a copy of this e.p., which featured Larry Hibbits of Hundred Reasons. I bought this one directly from HR's management. As cheesy pop punk as this single is, it's still pretty good.

Feeder Shatter/Tender Double A-side 7" Single Picture Disc
I always have this need to have "double A-side" singles on vinyl when available. (See the Kaiser Chiefs above.) Since this latest Feeder single is as such, I had to have it. It's a nice picture disc record too. Both songs show Feeder's soft and hard side. The only confusing thing is that Shatter used to be a b-side. Go figure.

The Tears Here Come The Tears LP
I saw this for $15 at Amoeba. I already have the CD but I couldn't pass this up. This is, as thenextlife will attest to, a good album. Nice comeback from Butler and Anderson.

Sigur Ros Glosoli DVD Single w/buttons and postcard
This was a freebie given away by CIMS affiliated record shops with the purchase of the latest Sigur Ros album, Takk... Well, the closest CIMS store was Fingerprints in Long Beach and I wasn't about to drive out there for this. Sooooo, I ended up winning this in an eBay auction. The DVD features the video for Glosoli. Great fucking video. Definitely one of SR's best. I'm glad I got this because it doesn't look like they are gonna release this commercially for a while. The extra buttons are a nice bonus too.

AminanimA AminanimA e.p. 10" Single
This is the female string quartet that accompanies Sigur Ros in concert. I've had the first pressing of this e.p. on CD for a while. I kept seeing this on auction on eBay but I didn't think it was legit. They never mentioned an official vinyl release. But I did more research and found a bunch of stores selling this online. Fortunately, Arons had a copy so I didn't have to pay some lame overpriced shipping fee to have it.

Manic Street Preachers The Holy Bible Japanese CD
This is officially my 9th copy of this album. But it's alright because this is my favorite album of all-time and one can't have too many copies of it. I had actually been on a casual search of this Japanese pressing for a while. Apart from one or two CDs, I have all of the Manics Japanese pressings. I have the 1997 "Nice Price" reissue of THB but was never able to find the original 1994 pressing. Until now. This will compliment my UK Picture Disc LP, UK Picture Disc CD, UK Reissue CD, UK Cassette, Japanese Reissue CD, Asian Cassette, Canadian CD, and US Promo Advance Cassette. Whoo hoo! Let's hear it over obsessive collectorism!

feeder, manic street preachers, amiina, tears, darkness, kaiser chiefs, jetpak, bloc party, funeral for a friend
