i just listened to my apartment mate, who i know really only in passing, fucking his girlfriend in the ass. i know this because i heard her squealing, and moaning, "please don't fuck me there, it hurts," and him saying, "shut the fuck up" (Melville 239).
the prevailing social courtesy is to leave, or at least turn the tv up and pretend it isn't happening. it is not to stand outside the door and listen with a huge grin on your face. guess who didn't learn ANYthing from finishing school.
