A non-fat, no water chai, a gift from me to me for getting out of bed this morning.
OH HEY!
lowriseflare wrote me SVU/White Collar fic! My morning, it is MADE. It's called
Never Sent To Bed Early and it's just another reason why
lowriseflare is so fantastically amazing. Solid writing, fantastic characterization... I want this to be canon so badly.
This weekend was a little hectic, but pleasant, none the less. Dinner with
wintergreen126,
marcasite, Lori and Samantha on Saturday night was wonderful. We lingered over tapas and sangria for three hours; it was really lovely to just relax and chat. Add to that the fact that we won our game that afternoon and are currently the only undefeated team on the roster, well... good Saturday.
Well, that certainly wasn't the episode I was expecting.
While I appreciated the flashbacks to the early moments in Dexter and Rita's relationship, it was fairly hokey. There really isn't a way to pull off the flashback in a drama series without making it feel a little trite. However, that backstory was needed in order to make the episode resolve with a sense of closure.
The more I think about it, Dexter's unemotional state was probably the best-suited for his character. He really was in shock, and that's how people in shocl act.
Quinn and Deb, well... I'm not opposed to it, but I have to say, I wish it had happened under different circumstances. Deb's whole m.o. of fucking people in a time of emotional vulnerability is getting a little out of control. If they don't somehow write in a breakdown due to her past relationships (i.e., the Ice Truck Killer, Antonn, Lundy-who-died-right-in-front-of-her, Quinn, almost-Doakes) and subsequent serious therapy, I can't continue to believe that her character is human.
Unless she starts drinking.
In other news, I watched all three episodes of Sherlock yesterday and is ready to join the masses railing against the fact that there are only three episode! I must have more Benedict Cumberbatch! And Martin Freeman, of course.
Om nom nom!
ETA: Castle called Beckett "Scully" on last night's Castle. Spoiler? Meh, don't care, because it made my liiiiife.
