Hey Beantown, you’ve got it all!

Well, Mike Lowell is pretty much gone (not that we didn't see that coming; he'd fill as a DH but we HAVE a DH and with his bad hip, well...) and the Mets are putting an offer on the table for Jason Bay, so basically baseball has made me very sad lately.

A really quick television run down. )

So it wasn't just me that haaaated Julianne Moore's accent? Oh it's so horrible. Love the character, may I say she's perfect for Jack...until he figures out he loves Lemon ;)

I mean, there were bits of her accent that were spot on, but my Australian friend who's staying with me even said, "That's not what you guys sound like." Maybe if you've split your type equally between the Cape and Southie you'd get an accent like that, but it was really cute of her to try!

Loved the bit about her dating a dude from Southie too, awwwwwwww Boston I love you.

She is TOTALLY perfect for Jack (She changed her status to weirdsies!) until he and Liz FINALLY come to their senses, hahah.

Also, loved the bit about Verdukian; that was a fantastic episode.

I honestly have no idea what people from Boston should sound like but whatever she did with her voice, it hurt my ears.

Agreed. It made me feel all fluffy and warm.

Listen to Mark Wahlberg in The Departed and you've pretty much got it there. Actually, most of the actors in that film had a pretty good grasp on the accent.

And I'm really beginning to love the new guy whom I lovingly refer to as gay Elvis because... he's gay, and he once played Elvis and I never remember his actual name,

I think it's cuz I wasn't expecting that accent to come out of her. It just sounds weird.

You mean Danny? I kinda like Gay Elvis though.

But the thing is, MOST people here don't have the accent, and almost no one has it as strongly as she did. But she may have been exaggerating for comic effect.

A lot of people on the north shore, where I'm from, have the accent. A large percentage of my friends do, too. My mother tried to work it out of my sister and I when we were younger because she said no one would take us seriously. Of course, my mother still has it, my sister still has it, and mine for some reason only sneaks out when I'm pissed or... the other sort of pissed, heh.

It's a bit more rough around the edges, is the problem, though I've heard some people out of Dorchester sound like that.

What bugs me is the assumption that everyone has it, which is how a lot of shows and movies present it. I remember what my friend said about Laurence Fishburne in Mystic River: "Black people don't have that accent!"

Yeah, some people in Daaawwwchestah have it.
