Is it a new year already??

So I am once again changing jobs. Heh.

The Manager of the Bar and Grill location on campus, The Hang, had left for another job. The new cafe on  campus couldn't afford to give me the raise I deserved. I already knew the business of The Hang because I started back there this year. I was bored in my job as lead supervisor of the new cafe, as much as I loved the Starbucks and Smoothies. I am now the Manager of the Hang. I have my own account. All. Mine.

Wanna know one of the things that (sadly) makes me most excited? I get to wear my own clothes. I know it shouldn't matter what you wear but I am sick of cheap, ill-fitting uniforms that don't denote an ounce of professionalism. I mean a men's small shirt is like 15 sizes too big on me. However, now I have to think about what I am wearing to work as well as have the wardrobe. I recently lost about 20 lbs and now 90% of my clothes are much too big for me. Good thing it's clearance time of the year eh? Too bad I didn't get more gift cards.

I ran the company Christmas party this year. I have done alot for it in years past but never completely organized and orchestrated it. I was very proud of how it turned out. I transformed the drab upper dining hall (we hold it there to save $ that we then spend on the party) into a holiday wonderland. This involved 1.5 hrs of moving and condencing 20 round and 15 rectangular tables and a million chairs into a small pile that was hidden by piping and draping we have never had before. The centerpieces were gorgeous cranberry and candle creations. There were games that people got into more than I thought they would. During the first class dinner there was a slide show of 5years worth of work pictures. I made the vegetarian entree- squash baked in cider and stuffed with chipolte barley, apples, and veggie sausage. Dessert was a candy buffett of homemade holiday goodies brought by everyone. I had 200 peanut butter balls - plain, heath bar, and nestle crunch, and a huge batch of peppermint bark. There was the traditional yankee swap. Wonderful music mix was played off my very handy iPod shuffle. All in all a very successful and beautiful event that I was very proud of.

I am also moving. We are moving from our efficiency apartment that is charming but small to the third floor of the same building. Josh's family owns that building and we get discount rent for mowing, shoveling, taking out the trash type stuff. We get the 3rd floor 2+ bedroom apt. for an incredible price. I think today I will get to see it for the first time. I am excited to spread out a bit.

I took a 12 day holiday hiatus (lazyness/crazyness break) from jogging but yesterday did my usual 6 mile loop and today about 3 mi - 2 of which were with my dogs by proxy - JOsh's parents two little dogs. They need more excercise on a regular basis and a good controlled walk for mental dicipline so Josh's parents are paying me to be their dog walker/jogger.

I'm sure there is more, maybe I'll post again sometime soon.........

Until then - the ponies were not in fact My (Ron's) Pretty Ponies but My (My neice Norah's) Little Ponies - the Ponyville mutation. Josh was scared of the presence of so many. Rather amusing. Maybe one night I will fill the room with them while he is sleeping so he wakes up to being watched by mini milti-colored ponies with huge eyes.
