So, at about 5:30 this morning my car kinda died. I was driving to work from Waltham and before I could even make itout of the city it stalled out numerous times. Now, I knew the end was near for this car that I have driven for the past 4 years but I was not expecting today to be the day, let alone expecting to have to miss work to deal with it. Like it couldn't have died sometime during the beginning of the week. Sheesh.
Anyway, was planning on replacing it just not this soon. Leaves me with option of find a car quick at a reasonably low price (under $1000). Long story short - found a 1990 VW Jetta that had been well cared for. Has some cosmetic defects but no major mechanical ones, standard with good gas mileage.
I miss my old car. It has been with me through many things and many years of change. It was my first real stable car. The car and myself had worked out a system of dual existance that made for a working partnership. Now it is gone. Kinda hard to believe. The owner of the Jetta was feeling the same way at getting rid of the Jetta. Was strange yet comforting to hear similar thoughts and feeling expressed about the car I was receiving. We'll see how this new car works out.
