I did it!
Soon after I bought my skis, I set myself a goal of skiing all the way into work and all the way home at some point before the season was over.
Today being possibly my last chance for this, (as the weather forecasters are calling for +9 and rain tomorrow and similar stuff all weekend . . .) I finally pulled it off.
14 k each way. Of course the trail would be iced over, full of holes from people walking on it, snowmobiles making themselves known, a very obvious moose crossing at one point and random points where the tracks simply would not hold my skis. I fell, more than once, but I claim success nonetheless. I even took less time than I thought (1h 45min) on the way home, almost making it home before full dark.
Of course I couldn't leave it at that and went and played indoor soccer at 8:30 this evening . . .
My prediction? I'll sleep well tonight.
