"Recent evolutions of the working world and romance (Always intertwined in capitalist society) have allowed almost no room for stasis. It’s estimated that today’s college graduate will change not jobs, but careers at least four times in his life; and the revolution of personal culture (Reflected by the current consumer’s attention span and solipsism, the laptop has become the symbol of our era) has made relationships more tenuous than ever. Add to these concerns one of the tightest job markets in recent Western history and a political climate increasingly polarized, and it’s understandable where the anxiety of current twenty-somethings comes from: The culture and education in which they came of age did little to prepare them for the instability they now face."
