Rides in the whirlwind and directs the storm. ~ Joseph Addison

Can't believe how fast this spring has passed! I thought I'd posted in March, but apparently not. A shake down of events attended:

Feb 22 - Matsuri: A Festival of Japan. Nice weather; interesting people-watching; funny cosplay costume show. Side note: I want to go to a furry convention. That must be hilarious fun.

Feb 27 - Don Giovanni opera. Oh, the lecherous, despicable scoundrel!

Feb 28 - Cavalia. Um. Equestrian arts meet the Lord of the Rings clothing. Too short, too expensive, and too bat-shit bizarre.

Mar 8 - North Mountain Hiking Preserve. Beautiful scenery; gorgeous day.

Mar 13 - Les Misérables. Actually better than expected. Relevant plot and interesting commentary re the danger of zealots.

Mar 14 - Pueblo Grande Museum: Archaeology Expo and Ancient Technology Day. Definitely worth visiting; touring the dig is very informative and enjoyable. Funny story: We finished with Pueblo Grande and decided to take the lightrail down to the Irish festival, leaving my car in the museum parking lot. Never noticing the wee sign that indicated that the parking lot was locked at 5:00 PM. Arrived back at the museum at 5:12 PM. Locked tight. Had to call EP to pick me up and then returned for the car the following day. Won't do that again.

Mar 14 - Arizona Irish Festival Irish jig dancing is ever so much more entertaining than Scottish; Scottish bag music is better than Irish. All the green is a bit sick-making.

Mar 15 - Arizona Aloha Festival. Huge festival; lots of stages and shopping and food. Attended festival with the Orcutts (they were here for a short visit). We ended up leaving after only about two hours, unfortunately, so I didn't get to enjoy everything. Will have to go back next year for the full experience. They need canvases over the main stage seating area to provide a bit more shade.

Mar 21 - Tuzigoot National Monument, Montezuma Castle National Monument & Jerome, Arizona. The national monuments were amazing (and it gave me an opportunity to use my America the Beautiful annual pass again) and Jerome seems a cute little town to browse and shop.

Mar 22 - Luke Days "Thunder in the Desert". Amazing airshow on one of the windiest days we've had. Several events were canceled because of it, but we did get to see the Thunderbirds. Had sand on/in every possible spot of my body.

Mar 28 - Arizona Renaissance Festival. Excellent spot for the faire; very nice that it's a permanent installation with shops and stages. Bought an overpriced, yet lovely hat with a feather. Attended the Pleasure Feast as well. Good food, good entertainment.

Apr 8 - Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Colorado Rockies. Leah and I took off a half-day from work to attend the ballgame. Arizona lost miserably, but it was fun just to be out.

Apr 10 - Cats. Not really sure as to the point of this musical. It was mildly entertaining and worth seeing once, but am at a loss as to why it was so overwhelmingly popular.

I'll try to flesh out this list with some commentary and, possibly, pictures this week, but at least everything's here.

Summer's finally arriving, so we are going to have to start looking for indoor events for the next few months. Dad and Kevin may be coming out for a visit mid-May. Work is much the same. Will be happy if we can swing a vacation this year; we both need one. We are continuing to purchase and pick-up our organic Bountiful Baskets every other week and so far the value has been fantastic. I pimp the co-op to everyone at work, etc. We are looking forward to summer veggies and fruits.
