Sacrifice is giving up something good for something better.

The weather's taken a turn for the lovely, so am spending much time outdoors. Have also been trying to get a lot of house projects completed before the weather takes a turn for the hellishly hot.

Am thinking I need a hobby and, for whatever reason, soap-making sounds intriguing.

In February, Joan and I attended the Ballet Arizona production of Don Quixote and a broadway adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. DJMH was a bit of a departure for us in terms of mood, but it was very enjoyable and well performed. Generally, performances tend to be rather upbeat and light, but this one definitely favored the suspenseful drama. We both really like the Herberger Theatre Center, so I may purchase their season subscription this autumn when the 2009 season begins, if it's any good.

Friday nights in March are going to be busy for us as Joan and I are scheduled to attend Arizona Opera's The Magic Flute, a European cirque-style production called Cirque Dreams: Jungle Fantasy, and then Chicago.

EP and I will be celebrating our seventh wedding anniversary this month. I wanted to go to Sedona for a nice weekend holiday, but we've decided to instead save the money for our trip to Philadelphia and New York in July and possibly go somewhere else, just the two of us, this autumn. Unfortunately, March onward is peak season in Arizona and all the hotels are exorbitantly priced.

In other news, my cousin Rachel had a stillbirth in January. Vanessa is still causing her parent grief and has moved to Los Angeles (after receiving yet another DUI). Fucked up, that one. Grandma had a pace-maker installed (?) a week or so ago. Dad should be coming out for a visit and trip to the dentist any time now. The State of Arizona has issued a hiring freeze. Sucks. EP claims that if Hillary Clinton is elected president, we are moving to Costa Rica and, frankly, if it were not for Joan and George, I'd be ready to go. The pups are great. I think it's mating season or whatever for cats.

EP's decided next year we are vacationing in Britain. We'll have to see what the exchange rate is. The dollar so sucks donkey balls right now.

Otherwise, everything's fine.

Rambled long enough, eh?
