Someday we’ll look back on all this and plow into a parked car.

¡Ay carumba! Just when you think life couldn't get more complicated, it gives you a wedgie.

First, to update re Ava - she's doing extremely well. She's now 5.1 lbs. Her stool sample came back all clear. She had her second set of vaccines and nails clipped. Ava-girl is a healthy lil' pup. She goes back in for her next round of shots in four weeks and will be spayed at about six months of age.

Oscar is also doing very well. It's funny, but he seems so much heavier to lift nowadays since Ava arrived.

Have taken on an additional class - computer information systems. Am entirely unsure as to applicability to finance major. Work at job has increased because of stupid consumers and a jacked-up City of Mesa.

The Hyundai battery must be replaced pretty much annually...and, sure enough, it went dead on Wednesday while Ed was at work. Thus, his parents had to give him a ride home and then take him to work the next day...then I had the dubious pleasure of driving out to Ed's office after work on Thursday to jump it and get the car home. Done, no problem...get an oil change and a new battery and we're back in business, right? RIGHT?

Au contraire, mon ami.

This flex-day Friday was perfectly planned out because...well, that's the organized type of person I am. At 9:00 a.m. will be delivering Hyundai to auto shop, George and Joan are to put third coat of stain on patio doors, and I am to replace the innards to the guest bathroom toilet. Car would hopefully be done by noon, at which time Joan would drive me to pick it up and I would round out the day with Ava's 3:00 p.m. vet appointment. Simple and productive, eh?

And the gods chuckled.

Joan followed me over to the auto shop at 9:00 a.m. to drop off Hyundai. Shop calls to give price for work and inform that transmission fluid or oil is leaking into radiator and car should be taken to the dealership to get that fixed under warranty. Okay!

Meanwhile, George and Joan discover paint brushes have solidified. Home Depot trip is planned.

Finish replacing innards to toilet, decide to thoroughly clean and remove hard water ring with pumice stone, and replace toilet seat. Looks fabulous!

At 12:45 p.m. Joan and I go in her car to Home Depot to get new paint brushes and then on to auto shop to pay for and pick up Hyundai. Can't find my check-card. Panic, panic. On the way back to the house, notice nothing but hot air streaming from vents. Hot, hot, hot! Drop Joan's car off at house and we drive to Arby's to get food for lunch - George wants curly fries. Still no cold air.

Arrive back at house and call auto shop...must bring car back. Changing oil and battery shouldn't have impacted air conditioner. Find check-card in Wednesday's pant's pocket. It's now 2:15 p.m.

Joan and I drive both vehicles back to auto shop with Ava in tow. Randy, a very nice man, checks out plugs, fuses and wires to see if something is unplugged. Nope, not that easy. Will have to take car into a bay to look more thoroughly.

By this time, Ava's vet appointment is looming so I drive Joan and I to the vet's office in her car. We finish up at the vet's office by 3:45 p.m. Call to shop: the problem stems from the accident in February 2005. Apparently, the body shop never fixed any of the front end damage. The transmission cooler is bent to hell and rubbing against the air conditioning condenser which has caused a hole and leaked out all my freon and is probably responsible for the leak into the radiator. Further, a bunch of bolts and stuff are missing from the front bumper. Joan and I drive to pick up the Hyundai and then head back to the house. Randy is kind enough to write out a statement detailing all this and show the damage to me.

4:00 p.m. I contact my insurance company. Must contact adjuster who handled claim. Call and leave message for adjuster, Lauri. Lauri calls back. Must contact body shop, rental expense all used up. Call Hollywood's Auto Body shop. Must bring car in.

At 4:30 p.m. Joan and I both drive to body shop. Yep, they completely missed all that. Very sorry, yadda, yadda, yadda. Will be fixed by late next week (why does that sound familiar??). Must leave Hyundai. Joan and I drive her car to Walgreen's to pick up prescription cream and then home for the final time.

Call to Ed to advise of goings-on. Am informed that he's "very stressed" because of hectic work, sleep deprivation from Ava (she's mostly been sleeping from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Uh?), and this car situation. Am nonplussed as to how he's stressed by auto situation when he hasn't dealt with any of it. Ed says he's in a bad mood and everyone should be advised not to bother him. Uh-huh, sure.

6:30 p.m. Ed arrives home and proceeds to take e-Bay stress break.

Me? I take much needed lie-down alone in my room.

Joan and George stain doors.

Oscar n' Ava? They're just chillin'.

The moral of this story? It's a dog's life and it's all good. Word.

school, ep, vehicles, work, pups
