Rod has an oath on the line, plus my fingers are damn itching.
I'm looking for decent single pane outliner, no I'm not just willing to settle for Word's, and then I'm also waffling on a decent Writing organizer. Currently I'm waffling between
Scrivener (sadly not the Mac version but the free Windows beta ... which is kludgey) and
Liquid Story Binder XE (which is great but almost *too* overwhelming).
So LJ and FB world, your views and opinions. I'll be using these things on both fiction, and non-fiction (meaning Heathen Essays and the two books I'm kicking around).
I, of course, am in love with
Outline 4D that does everything I want, but is 90 bucks!
On the "organization" software, I really like Scrivener's approach, but I got a deal a few years back on LSB and already own it. Justifying paying for Scrivener, well I really can't do it.
There are some other software programs that are nifty and free, but either they focus on screenplay or, well, I just don't like it.
I do write better when I organize and do a bit of pre-write, and I like the fact both programs let me keep my research a tab away (just need to somehow hook them up with Zotero.
Anyroad, just thought I would ask yous guys for your opinion and some ideas.
