Coastal walk from Oranmore Castle to Oranisland

Setting out a couple of hours before low tide, I'd hoped we would find the ruin of the nuns' bathing house, mentioned at http://oranmoreheritage.org/oh/?page_id=116 . Unfortunately, whoever owns the land here doesn't maintain his fences, so we got a bit of a scare making our way past the young cattle who emerged from this field to join us on the foreshore. There is a wall going down into the sea at bathing house point. The wall is clearly visible in aerial photography back to 1995, but no mention of it in the old maps. Will have to take a closer look next time to find the ruin of the bathing house.

Lovely placename on this walk was 'Cloghaunnamallaght' - Clochan na Mallacht: 'stony ford of the curses' - 'mallacht' being the gaelic for a curse, and 'beannacht' being a blessing - clearly these words are related to the latin benedictum and maledictum.

There's a very convenient way up from the shore to rejoin the road in Oranisland: http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,537285,723769,7,0

Close by, we saw scaffolding in the water - someone's been working on maintaining the wall.
