He didn't tell me to "stay put" back home. He didn't tell me there wasn't anything I could do back home. I helped him then, and now he acts like I can't do it anymore. Both of them are, but goddammit, he's not the only one who lost a friend today!

Legato could've killed us all in a heartbeat. Telling us to stay away and inside wouldn't have made any difference if the bastard had really wanted to wipe us out. He wanted a reaction, and Vash gave it to him.
