It's a curse. Luckily a mild one.

Well, I kinda guessed that. I just don't understand the point of it.

The theory from the last time is that the letter is supposed to signify some great sin or failing within our character. But everyone tends to find it more fun to make up words for it. Like 'A'... for adroit, auspicious, attentive?

-sounds pretty strange, I gotta say.

...'Adroit'?

'Strange' sums up this place pretty well.

And adriot-- having or showing skill, cleverness, or resourcefulness in handling situations.

Don't mind me flipping through a dictionary today.

Yeah, it does.

Oh.

Can't say I've ever done that for a while.

...What was your name again?

I'm Riou, pleased to meet you.

I don't usually spend my time doing that either, but it seems a good day for that today. I also feel compelled to tell you that I have an 'M' or 'W' because apparently that's also part of the curse.

I'm Livio. It's nice to meet you too.

Seems like it, yeah. Where's your letter located?

I know. Newly arrived, I take it?

Mine is on my chest, so it looks like a 'W' to me when I look down and probably like an 'M' to everyone else.

Mm, just a little over a week ago, so yeah, I guess so.

Really? ...Huh. Mine's on my forehead. I've tried to get it off several times, but it won't budge. Guess I'll have to wait it out.

How long have you been in the City for, Riou?

Yeah, scrubbing it or trying to take your clothes off or whatever doesn't help. But this one's always just been a one day curse, so it shouldn't be too long a wait.

I've been here for a year and a half. Funny thing about this place... you can meet the same person several times over. From different worlds or different times or just without previous memories.

I noticed. Good to know.

A year and a half? ...Wow. That's...a really long time.

...I've heard about that. Does it happen a lot?

And there are people who've been here longer than me without going back home. Although most people are here for a lot shorter periods of times.

Oh yes, it happens quite a bit. I've met the same person five times over now. So, a bit of a heads up if strange people come up to you acting like they know you.

Well, at least people get to go home? There are people things here I wouldn't get to see at home, but it's probably better to be there than here.
