And there he was, dressed in that trench coat that Dad kept trying to throw out, and that Father always remade when Dad wasn't looking.

But more interesting to Cas was the cat.

"You have a kitty," he observed happily, leaning over to hold a hand out to the cat.

There was a tiny person in the church. A tiny person wearing, of all things, a trenchcoat.

"I do. Her name is Angelbane, and she is with children. Are you lost?"

"Not really," Cas said, petting the cat and scratching behind her ears. "I bet Dad named her, didn't he?"

"That would depend entirely on who your father is. I am not created to name thing."

"That's what Dad says all the time," Cas agreed.

"Your father regularly asks who your father is?" Wait. "Ah, he says I don't name things. He must know me rather well."

Cas grinned. "He likes to say he knows you in the biblical sense. And they don't ask me regularly but Dad did last time I was here and now you are so it does happen."

Castiel blinked several times at that little speech. "You seem to be implying something. Where did you come here from?"

"Home," Cas replied, as if there wasn't any other answer.

Castiel nodded as if that was a completely reasonable answer. "And where is home?"

"Far away from here," Cas told him. "But I'm here now. To see you!"

"That's very nice of you." This line of questioning wasn't getting him anywhere. "Who are you?"

Cas blinked. Right, he had to do this last time too. "I'm Cas Winchester! And you're my father!"

Castiel's response was immediate and required little thought. "No I'm not."

Cas rolled his eyes, then spread his wings. "Yes, you really are."

Castiel's eyes widened. "That is a compelling argument." Wait, hadn't Dean mentioned -- "You're also Dean's, aren't you?"
