Me again.

scrubsupdate:

Belated Merry/Happy/Blessed to all. Mine was a success, despite the pain. Mom and A (and Dad but he just sat there) came early to help with dinner and SH came up out of his mancave frequently to check on me.

The reason for this? Ice storm Tuesday night. Normally we'd stay in, watch dvds, play online. Sadly, it was Mom's annual birthday dinner out, so we had to attend. It took 45 minutes of hell to make a 25 minute trip. The freeways weren't bad but the exits were unbelievably slow as people tried not to slide. We arrived late but dinner was lovely. The parking lot, however, was a sheet of ice. I was wearing heels. You draw the picture. Fortunately, I fell after dinner and not before. If my boobs were bigger, I might not have been injured at all, but sadly, I fell forward onto my unprotected chest and head. SH said I hit really hard. 130 pounds at 9.8 m/sec/sec from a height of approximately 5'9". You do the math. Goose egg on head and some really sore ribs. Once the drugs started to work (just non-steroidals. I can't work with narcotics on board) I found a big bruise on my hip and arm, too, which I hadn't felt over the pain of my ribs. I felt better Wednesday night and really felt I'd just bruised everything but today, unfortunately, I sneezed at Panera and felt the fracture move out and back into place. There are no words to cover that pain and, in any case, they were all under my breath as I was in public. I'm planning to never, ever sneeze again. My right boob probably has a hematoma under it, because it's obviously bigger than it was, and I'm wearing sport bras to splint my chest. Underwires are going to be out of the question for a while. A trip to Target this weekend to buy a few more sport bras may be in order.

I also have an awesome shiner on the right as the goose egg migrated down. It's so dark, I could probably get away with only wearing eyeshadow on the left eye. Well, except for the bruising under the eye that there is no coverup opaque enough to cover.

So, this is the story of scrubs' Xmas. We had fun despite my handicaps (which are legion at the best of times ;) )
and my favorite presents were the Trollbead #2Son bought me and the framed picture my brother gave me of his band. I squeed. SH got me a gift certificate for the day spa but it's going to be six weeks or so before I've healed enough for that. My mom gave me my Kermit bead, my Hallmark ornaments, and a Target gift card. Presents I gave went over fairly well, although Chessie unwrapped a couple of them when Jim and I went to the UDF for coffee that morning. *sigh* SH asked, "Was there food in there?" "Of course there wasn't food under the tree! We have two dogs!"

No work for me today and I'm not moving from this spot. I'll be reading Yuletide fic until further notice. *bliss*

*jazz hands*

*exits stage left*
