Mmmk, today's prompt is re-he-he-ally out there. Sorry if it disturbs you guys ^^;
"Not Newbie, anyone but Newbie..." Perry groaned into his hands as he buried his face in them, his figure shuddering as he struggled to fight the tears welling up. But there was no denying that the bloodied, bruised face he'd seen a few hours ago, however mutilated, was JD's. But he couldn't think about the injuries. He just couldn't stand to imagine his protegé like this. And how could it have happened? It just didn't make sense. The one constant in his life, the person that he could always count on to be the same, girly annoyingly lovable kid, had been injured. He'd wanted to watch over JD when he'd learned about the accident, to see to it that the kid was properly treated. But he couldn't bring himself to watch, so he left it all in Turk's hands, knowing that the man would adequately handle the life of his best friend.
It was with frantic eyes that he looked up, footsteps snapping him into reality. Perry all but pounced on Turk as the surgeon came to Dr. Cox, looking agitated.
"How is he? Will he be okay?" Perry demanded.
"He's gonna live," Turk responded. "But..." he paused. "Well, he got kinda... messed up in the accident."
"Messed up?"
"His package," Turk clarified, shuddering. "It had to be removed, and he requested... well, he wants to have a sex change operation."
