I picked up a copy of Ovid's Metamorphoses for grins and giggles, and discovered that the commentary/translation was done by a biblical literalist who's explination of every fable so far has been "This is a corruption of the events accurately described in the Bible."
For instance, the war against the giants was the tower of babel. The war of the gods vs. the titans was the fall of angels.

this translation that I have and I gotta say, the overt bible thumping in the commentary makes me doubt the accuracy of the translation efforts.
Is anybody familiar enough with Ovid to offer opinions on the translations?
