We prefer them above pumpkins - the turnips are more grotty looking and suitable for -as it were- grown ups.

Next year we might try carving Mandrake aswell. And se whether we can make 'em scream.

A-ha! I've figured out why! The turnip to me is what you'd call a "swede". What I call a "rutabaga" is what you call a turnip. :D

I dunno; a lot of people here call turnips swedes... I Googled rutabaga images and they seem smaller - I think they sold those in Tesco this year. Next year I'm getting some to make shrunken heads with...
