This Governor has got to be one of the stupidest public officials to ever serve in Oregon. Whichever way the wind blows there goes Kulongoski. This man should run for president as he obliviously shares the same lack of spine as Clinton and lies like Bush. The best of both parties.
Kulongoski came out and says, "...the nation needs a debate on whether to restore the military draft." Then today he is quoted as saying, "...the use of Oregon National Guard troops in Iraq unreasonable, unfair and unconscionable."
What is this moron thinking? And what is even more shocking is the Governor served as a U.S. Marine. Boy, I'll bet he was the pride of his outfit, let me tell you! So then he goes on and says, "...Let's debate the draft and when more and more families see their children going into harm's way..."
He moans that too many Oregonians have died in Iraq, a sentiment I share. So how does reinstating the draft stop Oregon soldiers from dieing? In a nut shell it doesn't. It just means more American kids from across the country will die as well.
In all fairness I must add it appears Kulongoski is concerned about the inability for national guard soldiers to end their enlistment when they have fulfilled their commitment and want out. Again, I agree. So, why then, talk of bringing back the draft? The only reason must be because Kulongoski wants to be on both sides of the political fence.
We need to get out of Iraq. We need to turn the country over to the ruling class who right now is the Shiites, and bring our boys home. What right do we have as Americans to attempt to change a political and religious existence that goes back to before Christ walked the earth. We are like kindergartners trying to teach a physics class. There are those out there who say stupid stuff like, "You wouldn’t just stand by and allow you neighbor to beat his wife would you?” This analogy to a whole country doesn't hold water as there is so much more involved.
Kulongoski wants the national guard home so they can fight forest fires. Pretty selfish, but I would rather have our Oregon youth fighting an enemy they can beat, then getting killed by cowards and terrorists in Iraq.
Whats the Gov going to do? Nothing. He has made it clear where he stands, on the fence with the pole up his ass.
This is our government in action.
