Highlander reboot // Elementary (my dear Watson)
ETA: Okay, this is why I love having 
calliopes_pen on my dwircle. She gives me fair warning when stuff happens in movies/TV, such as the news that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is rebooting Highlander.
Guys, are we supposed to be happy about this? Because when the mainstream audience thinks of Highlander, it generally thinks of the movies. With apologies to any Scots out there, you wouldn't believe how many times I've heard someone describe a "Highlander" as "someone who lives forever and kills people with swords". *facepalm* The first movie is something of a cult classic, the second is godawful crack, and the third a total retread of the first (though I'll admit to liking it a lot). And the fourth and fifth are... less well-known? Especially when you consider the TV characters kind of take over the movie side of the franchise at that point.
Anyway, most of us in fandom consider the Highlander TV shows first, that is, accept TV canon over movie canon. Sure, we could ignore anything that happens in this reboot we don't agree with, so what's the big deal? But honestly, it'd be so much nicer--easier, and a hell of a lot more fun!--if Fresnadillo worked with the TV shows. Just from the article, I'm not even sure he knows they exist.
