Pairing memes! (Mostly DC Comics pairings.)
Third week of school and I'm already sick! It's just a cold, but it's annoying to feel like crap and not be at home. I have Tylenol Cold and hot chocolate, so that's something, but I'm almost out of Kleenex! Thankfully I still have most of a roll of toilet paper, the soft kind. Yes, a supply run is in my future. *facepalm*
Tomorrow morning I'm taking the bus/subway down to church to help conduct a full-day interview with a pastoral candidate. If you're the praying type, please pray for our candidate and for the pastoral search committee as we get to know one another.
To distract myself from my cold, here are a couple of old pairing memes. The first one I'll answer using only DC Comics characters (no toons or movies) and the second one can be multi-fandom:
"One True Pairing" ship: Tim/Kon forever and ever, amen. With a side of Clark/Bruce. (World's Finest, baby.)
"One True Threesome" ship: None. I've read Tim/Kon/Bart and Clark/Lois/Bruce and a few other combinations, but I don't really ship threesomes.
"Canon" ship: Ollie/Dinah, Clark/Lois. I also like Dick/Babs and Dick/Kory, but I don't go out of my way to read fic.
"Not Quite Canon but Should Be" ship: Seriously, Tim/Kon should just be canon already. Also Clark/Bruce, Babs/Dinah, and Dick/Roy.
"If This Happens I'll Stab My Eyes Out with a Spork" ship: Anything involving the Joker.
"You Are One Sick Bastard" ship: Kon/Lex. Not that I've ever seen it, thank God.
"I'm One Sick Bastard" ship: Clark/Kon, Bruce/Tim. Both are incest pairings (Clark/Kon by blood, Bruce/Tim by adoption) but both are still waaay less incestuous than, say, Bruce/Dick or Bruce/Jason or even Clark/Kara.
"I Dabble a Little" ship: Dick/Tim, Tim/Steph, Cass/Steph, Bruce/Steph, Dick/Roy, Ollie/Dinah, Clark/Lois.
"It's Like a Car Crash" ship: Bruce/Dick, Bruce/Jason, Bruce/Tim... Really, Bruce/everyone dead or alive except maybe Clark. Also Tim/Cassie (Wonder Girl), Dick/Slade.
"Tickles My Fancy but Not Sold Quite Yet" ship: Tim/Jason, Dick/Jason, other Jason-related pairings. I'm starting to like Jason, but only a specific type of Jason: pre-DitF or AU Jason. (I'm not a fan of Red Hood, basically.)
"Makes No Canon Sense but Why the Hell Not" ship: Dick/Steph, a pairing I had never considered until I started reading fic that teamed up Batgirl!Steph with Batman!Dick and Damian!Robin. I don't see it ever becoming a relationship, though.
"Everyone Else Loves It but I Just Don't Feel It" ship: Bruce/Diana, though I don't think it's true that everyone loves it. Clark/Lex, because while I liked Clex in early Smallville, I'm generally not a fan of enemy!pairings. Clark/Robin (Dick, Jason, or Tim), which I've read but which does nothing for me.
"When All Is Said and Done" ship: Clark/Lois. DCnU, I am not impressed. Not. Impressed.
"Guilty Pleasure" ship: Steph/Damian! So. Adorable. I only wish this pairing had more fic! I love the idea of Damian crushing on the older woman. Plus, it'd be so satisfying if Steph finally became a full-fledged Wayne.
"I Can't Believe I Read It and Liked It" ship: Barry/Wally. Nuff said.
"Favourite 'Older/Younger'" ship: Clark/Kon, Bruce/Tim.
"My First 'I Could Never Abandon You'" ship: Tim/Kon!
"Favourite Devotion" ship: Tim/Kon. I sound like a broken record. But what can I say? They're BFF. When Kon died, Tim tried to clone him. If that's not devotion, I don't know what is.
"Favourite Never-Met" ship: Steph/Ollie. I literally just came up with this pairing. But damn, it would be AWESOME AND LOLARIOUS.
"Favourite Pervy" ship: Dick/Slade.
"Favourite Dominance Battle" ship: None. For me, the DCU is about equal friendships and unequal mentor/student relationships. Sure, there are elements of friction and one-upmanship involved in many of these pairings, but I'm not interested in these characters constantly duking it out for who's on top.
