TV Shows as Exes meme

Aug 20, 2011 00:20

Some people are doing this meme as "fandoms as relationships", but the person I ganked this from had it as "TV shows as exes" so that's what I'm going with. The source material (TV show) =/= the fandom.

The one who seduced you, screwed you over, broke your heart in a million pieces, and laughed about it:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Angel screwed me ( Read more... )

yes I agre with that, and Farscape don't have an ending that makes me very very annoyed.

So true! That had to be one of the worst endings, ever, even worse than Lost.

I've heard that! I never watched BSG, but I was so curious about the ending that I read a lot of spoilers and even mainstream articles analysing the finale.

Thanks for the link! Wow, I'm really glad that there's a director who is really invested in making Wonder Woman. Too bad it's so far into the future! But at least there's interest and hope.

Farscape does get extremely dark at times if you simply retell the plots, but it always keeps a sense of humour and hope. Also, it upsets me much less than a lot of "dark" shows because the characters are outlaws trying to stay alive, and aren't claiming to be world-defending heroes while constantly getting civilians killed through incompetence.

This is a very good point. It's like watching Leverage and being okay with crooks doing bad things for good reasons, versus watching cops abusing their power on a cop show.

Also, I hope this isn't too spoilery, but on what is probably the one occasion that the central characters decide to pro-actively go on a mission to do good, there's a huge plot element about rank-and-file members of an evil army possibly not being completely evil and it not being justifiable to just massacre them all.

What everyone else said about Farscape. The plots can be dark on paper. The execution always has optimism, hope, humor, etc.

And this is a really timely post, because Powder and I have just started getting into SG1. After watching the first 3(?) seasons years ago but not going on because I couldn't afford the rest of the DVD sets at the time, I'm finally rewatching via Netflix and we're both loving it. But Netflix can be a bit twitchy and watching it that way is getting a little irritating. Also, they randomly pulled Season 3, so now we have to track that down elsewhere anyway, so we're considering getting the full series boxed set, because it's on sale for $87 at Amazon. $87 for 10 seasons of TV? Awesome! But I'm noticing a lot of customer reviews saying the packaging is bad and scratches the discs. I was wondering if you happened to either (a) have the complete set or (b) have friends who do who might know whether the packaging is that much of a problem.

Ooh, cool meme. Smallville is obviously my steady boyfriend. I think Vampire Diaries might be the one friends keep introducing me to - it's just never clicked for me at all. And Supernatural is definitely the one who's slept with all my friends. Game of Thrones is definitely my hot new flame.

And ITA about the Marvel movieverse. I hate that, with one very obvious exception, they can't seem to make the DC characters work on the big screen. Fingers crossed that Man of Steel works.

Yeah, I was thinking of Supernatural as well for the one who's slept with all my friends! Though I can only blame myself, because I was the one who helped pimp it to them, back when I watched the show and was into the fandom.

I really loved Superman Returns, despite its flaws, and I love the Nolanverse. But yeah, it just didn't strike the right chord with the mainstream movie audience and that just really sucks. There's so little warmth in the DC movies, whereas Captain America made want to HUG EVERYONE.

Fingers crossed that Man of Steel works.

Ditto.
