Five things for a Monday evening

Aug 15, 2011 23:19

1) I marathoned Suits the other day because I wanted to read
blackeyedgirl's lone (so far) Suits fic. I don't understand how she manages to suck me into these fandoms through the sheer power of her writing. *g*

Suits is fun and banter-y, a lot like White Collar in its set-up of two white boys and the secondary characters that revolve around them--one of whom is played by Gina Torres! Only there's a lot more profanity than I'm used to. It really is too bad the Twiz transcript site is shut down because I would totally re-write the Suits premiere and genderbend Mike Ross, the younger white guy, into Michaela Ross. Or keep Mike a guy and genderbend Harvey. Either way would be awesome.

2) Last week I walked into the comic book store closest to my church and walked out with #85 and #86 of Superman/Batman, parts 1 and 2 of a new arc, "The Secret". Really liking the plot so far, which is more low-key than the previous "Sorcerer Kings" arc. Basic premise: Batman and Clark Kent, in his guise as an investigative reporter, try to solve the murder of a Gotham Gazette reporter.

It's been a long time since I bought issues as they came out, instead of the collected trades, but I'll make an exception for this. Thankfully it's only a 3-parter.

3) ♥♥♥LEVERAGE♥♥♥

4) We have a promising candidate for our pastoral search. If you're the praying type, please pray for our candidate and for those of us who will be interviewing him!

5) I've given up trying to get my LJ friends-list to load. I hope everyone's doing okay!

ETA: No, wait, it's working again! Yay! Since #5 no longer applies, here's a #6:

6) Heroines Fest 2011 is open for prompts! Leave them on Dreamwidth or over on LiveJournal.

From the rules post:
heroines_fest is a fest designed to produce more fanworks featuring female characters from comics. I'm having a lot of fun leaving awesome prompts about female superheroes like Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Miss Martian, Supergirl, etc.
