30 days of Harry Potter: Day 1 // Happy Birthday, deadsoul820!
Two things:
1) A very happy birthday to deadsoul820!
2) shadadukal has been doing 30 Days of Harry Potter for a couple of weeks now and I've finally succumbed to the temptation to blather about HP books and fandom.
01. Discuss how you got into Harry Potter
I continually misremember the details of how I got into HP fandom. I always think it started with the PoA movie, which is only partly true--according to this LJ post from 2004, I'd already watched the CoS movie and read part of Philosopher's Stone. Anyway. The usual story is that my sister convinced me to go with her and some friends to see Prisoner of Azkaban. She'd been reading the books and therefore was a bit disappointed that the movie left so many details out. I, however, was a complete n00b and was blown away. Not enough to read all the books then published, but I became a fan of the movies. And the fic! (Mostly Remus/Sirius, some Harry/Snape.) I finally got around to reading Half-Blood Prince, and then on Harry Potter Day my mom came home with a copy of Deathly Hallows, which I burned through in two days. I know some people hated DH, but it's not until I reached the conclusion of Harry's journey that I became a true Harry Potter book fan.
