I have a job interview in a hour up in Brentwood...but I'm not going to go. It seems kinda shady to me. I got a call/voicemail on Friday but a guy in the company saying his name was Roberto (something) and gave me his number and extension to call him back. When I called the same number and extension back, Roberto picked up but said he didn't call me and asked if a woman called me. I told him know, it was a guy who had given me the name Roberto (insert last name.). He told me that was him and he was the VP of the company or some kind of higher up but he didn't call me and told me to hold on while he checked with someone. After a few seconds he said I would be called back in a few minutes.
A few minutes past and I get a call back and I sware it's the same guy. He tells me that he found my resume on Monster.com and was intrested in giving me a interview for their company. He asked me to come in on Monday, and asked what time would be good for me. Morning or Evening, I said evening expecting something like a 4 o'clock time. Instead he tells me to come in at 7 o'clock. "7 o'clock?" I asked kinda shockingly. He said "yeah, is that ok?". I told him it would be fine, I just wasn't expecting that kind of timeframe.
So we confirmed 7 o'clock on Monday. It laterd dawned on me that today was a holiday, which made it kinda even more strange...really not by much but yeah. It struck me as odd. So after confirming, I realized that he hadn't told me what kind of job I was going in to apply for. So I asked and was told that they were just going to give me a interview and figure out where they were going to place me in their company. Yeah, I'm not ok with this. Who doesn't tell someone what they're applying for when you're the one calling them? "Yeah, we're just going to throw you in somewhere and see how it works out.".
So after thinking about it, I've decided not to go. There's just to many red flags with this interview and the call that took place. Besides I got two more interviews lined up tomorrow morning and for Weds. morning as well that are more on the up and up. I know what I'm applying for and I know the pay rate and I know what they di....well at least they both told me what kind of work they do and what my job would be.
Job Interview 1: Driving for Glass Inc in Benicia. Pay is 12.00 bucks an hour, which is two dollars less than what I was making at Design Select but it's still decent pay for me to pay my bills. It's pretty much the same job I had when I worked for Design Select but instead of delivering Tile, I'm delivering windows/glass. But I'm actually going to be employed by a Temp company and not Glass Inc, so the job is only suppose to last 3 to 6 months, but it is a temp to hire job so there's always a chance I could work for Glass Inc after the 3 to 6 month thing, plus I'll be getting benefits from the temp company. There is the downside of gas and toll though.
Job Interview 2: The 2nd job interview is for a landscaping company in Dublin. It's cold calling/sales. Basically my job would be trying to find new cilents for the company, either by going door to door or by cold calling people. It's 600 a week base pay and there is commision as well. So It's 2,400 a month and then commision, so it's a little bit more than what I was making at Design Select. While there is no toll, I'd have to get gas every few days, but if I'm making 800 a week with commision (depending on how commision is made.) I could most likely afford it.
So we'll see how things go with the two interviews I have lined up. Hopefully one of the two interviews will work out and I will have a new job as soon as June 2nd.
